To try: belt and scarf

There are numerous ways to wear a scarf. One way, I especially like, is to wear a belt over your scarf. (also works well with a skinny belt).

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

I got the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Catalog a few days ago, and let's just say it's probably good for my wallet that I don't live close to a Nordstrom.

The sale begins Friday July 15, although I believe you can now pre-shop starting July 5.

Mismatched Dining Chairs

As I am thinking about making some changes to my dining table, I have been noticing more and more mismatched dining sets. This look definitely gives the room a more casual vibe. I like the idea of using the same style of chair and painting each one a different color, or choosing different styles of chairs and painting them all the same color.

Weekend Look

I know I have been slacking these past couple of days. I have been busy working on a project that I will be sharing next week.

Found: Hetterson Clothing

I stumbled upon this adorable line of clothing by Hetterson. Each piece is beautifully handmade, including some of the pieces being handknit using organic materials. My favorite is the handknit sweater with the suede arm patches.

To Try: Brown and Black

Many people think you can't wear brown and black together, but as seen here, you absolutely can.

helpful hints:

• mix it up with a couple of items in each color, having only one item in black or brown might look out of place
• keep the browns similar in shade as well as the blacks
• if you want more of a contrast do a lighter more caramel brown, if you want something more subtle do a chocolate brown color
• don't be afraid to try a pattern

High Bun

This has become my go-to hairstyle lately.

It's fast, easy, and keeps the hair out of my face and off my neck in this hot and humid weather.

(although I can't say it looks as good as Lauren Conrad's)

"In a Flash" First Birthday Party

We celebrated Will's first birthday a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to share some of the photos from his party. The theme was "one year in a flash" because it really has gone by so fast.

The idea came from a party seen here and I got the photo props from Oh Happy Day. They were definitely a hit. We originally planned to be outside, but it ended up being so cold and windy, we mostly stayed indoors. A big thanks to my sister Katie for taking pictures and making the cake pops, my mom for letting us use her house and to everyone else who helped out. It was a good time.
